A professional development program, one-on-one, and small group research-based literacy intervention geared towards first graders who are struggling to read.

Reading Corps combines the people power of AmeriCorps and the science of how children learn to read. Trained AmeriCorps members are placed in early learning centers and elementary schools statewide to serve as literacy tutors for children from age 3 to grade 3. Tutors work with children one-on-one and in small groups daily, providing literacy interventions that are tailored to each learner's needs.

OpenLiteracy partners with school districts, non-profit organizations, and families across the United States to provide 1:1 tutoring for students in grades K-6. OpenLiteracy Tutoring can be implemented during the school day, for instance, during an intervention block or independent reading time, as well as before or after school. Students receive one-on-one instruction from a certified teacher for 30 minutes, three times per week, via OpenLiteracy's virtual classroom.

Grand Valley State University’s K-12 Connect program provides individualized K-12 academic support to students through virtual, high-dosage tutoring services. While K-12 Connect currently partners largely with Michigan school districts, the program is expanding to service districts across the US. K-12 Connect tutoring is flexibly designed, with tutoring offered in and outside of school, seven days a week. Tutors are highly trained and work in a community-based learning environment with ongoing coaching and collaborative peer and professional support.

Intervene K-12 works closely with districts to diagnose students' misunderstanding by utilizing researched-based analytics. The GO Foundation runs the GO Fellowship, an AmeriCorps national service program providing students in grades 3-12 with high-dosage tutoring in ELA and/or math and near-peer mentoring in an embedded model – from morning arrival through the end of the school day. Our tutors (“GO Fellows”) are typically recent college or high school graduates serving as AmeriCorps members who are trained to provide a year of hands-on service in schools. GO Fellows, who undergo a rigorous selection process, develop the communities they serve, mentor for leadership, and instruct for mastery.

Future Forward is an early literacy intervention that provides individualized one-on-one tutoring and family engagement for kindergarten through 3rd grade struggling readers. The College Advising Corps is the nation's largest college access program working through 31 universities in 17 states. Within each chapter (including the University of Texas at Austin chapter) recent college graduates are selected for specific high schools to be imbedded in the school full-time to work with students daily to increase the number of low-income, first-generation, and underrepresented students entering and completing higher education.
