  • Tutoring programs are those organizations that offer one-on-one and/or small group tutoring directly to students, either in-person, virtually, or through both modes of delivery. 
  • Technology platforms are technology platforms that facilitate tutoring programs.
  • Interventions offer materials (e.g., an instructional scope and sequence, placement assessment, progress monitoring tools) that are used by a tutoring program, but do not offer tutoring directly.  

This database is intended for Districts, States or nonprofits to identify potential tutoring partners, for potential tutors to identify potential employers and for tutoring organizations to have a clearer understanding of the landscape and to identify interventions that might be useful to their programs, if needed.

Lindamood-Bell is an international literacy organization that offers specific evidence-based programs to address decoding and comprehension skills, thereby positively affecting academic performance. Lindamood-Bell's programs develop the sensory-cognitive processes that underlie reading and comprehension. Instruction is based on the individual's learning needs. The company delivers instruction in learning centers that are stand alone or within schools, in online environments, and in schools throughout the USA.


Made for Math is an online math intervention service for students with dyslexia, dyscalculia, mathematics learning disability (MLD). We work with students ages 9-20 years of age. All sessions are one-one and held online via Zoom. A box of manipulatives is sent to each student for use during sessions. This program is built to close gaps in mathematical knowledge.


For more than 20 years, the JCC has trained and paired hundreds of volunteer tutors with academically vulnerable students in Manhattan's public schools through our Literacy and Math tutoring programs. Their
objective is to help raise elementary, middle, and high school students’ reading and math scores to grade level. The majority of students come from low-income households and under-resourced communities, including students living in low-income housing facilities and in domestic violence and homeless shelters.


Masteryhour.org is a free, online tutoring program for K12 students, led by volunteers from colleges and universities, currently offered in English and Spanish. We use a mastery-based approach to ensure students advance at their own rate. All our tutors are trained in innovative teaching techniques including inquiry-based learning. anti-bias education, child-centered communication differentiating learning and cultivating a growth mindset. Volunteer professors and math teachers come to observe tutoring sessions and offer feedback and support to the student tutor volunteers. All the tutoring happens in the Mastery Hour zoom room. Students can drop in whenever they need tutoring and are paired with tutors in breakout rooms - or can stay in the main room for study hall (occasionally asking a question as needed). While we're starting with math offered twice a day in our zoom room, we hope to add more subjects and hours until Masteryhour.org is available 24 hours a day for free to any child who needs it.

Math Makes Sense provides convenient tutoring services for all ages in elementary math, pre-algebra, algebra, geometry & college algebra.

OpenLiteracy partners with school districts, non-profit organizations, and families across the United States to provide 1:1 tutoring for students in grades K-6. OpenLiteracy Tutoring can be implemented during the school day, for instance, during an intervention block or independent reading time, as well as before or after school. Students receive one-on-one instruction from a certified teacher for 30 minutes, three times per week, via OpenLiteracy's virtual classroom. Our COPPA compliant virtual classroom, similar to Zoom, makes it easy to conduct tutoring sessions whenever and wherever needed. OpenLiteracy cares deeply about working in partnership and we regularly communicate baseline and ongoing progress monitoring data as well as attendance.

Springboard's recipe for impact is a method we call Family-Educator Learning Accelerators (or FELAs). FELAs are 5-10-week cycles during which teachers and parents team up to help kids reach learning goals. Sprout and S.T.E.M. is a nonprofit organization focused on providing the educationally disadvantaged with access to after-school supplementation, such as tutoring and mentorship.

We aim to bridge the gap in education caused by underlying socioeconomic issues. Our program offers general subject tutoring (English, Maths, Computer Science, History) and SAT/PSAT/ACT enhancement taught by top-scoring students. Brown University's online tutoring program is a free resource and service for all students of current partner K-12 schools offered through the Annenberg Institute, the Swearer Center and Tutor Matching Services. The Annenberg Institute's mission is rooted in conviction that improved educational equality leads to enriched opportunities for children and youth, ultimately contributing to more just and flourishing societies. Coupled with the Swearer Center's foundational components: community engagement, engaged scholarship, and social innovation, we strongly believe this program will have positive implications including higher graduation rates, higher rates of matriculation into a four-year university, higher grades on standardized testing, more positive attitude towards school and life, and higher self-esteem.


Designed to be used as a component of your tutor training program or as stand-alone training, Tutor Essentials is a self-paced, online course that equips tutors with the tools and tactics necessary to become a great tutor. The highly engaging course includes interactive elements such as real tutoring scenario videos, quizzes, and the creation of a personal tutoring philosophy statement. The entire training program takes 3-5 hours. The course can be completed in one sitting but also gives tutors the ability to save their work and complete it over multiple sessions. Tutor Essentials was developed by Purdue University in partnership with Study Edge, with input from CRLA certification volunteers, Emory University, Clemson University, IUPUI, and others.


TutorVille was founded in 2009 with the understanding that every student has the right to an education, and we recognize that the one-size-fits-all approach is not for everyone. TutorVille offers tutoring for PK-College, Test Prep, College Prep and a homeschool option (TV Prep).


UPchieve connects low-income students (13+) with free, on-demand math tutoring, science tutoring, and college counseling though their interactive platform. Students can use UPchieve 24/7 from any device (including smartphones, tablets, and computers) to connect one-on-one with a live Academic Coach. Using the interactive whiteboard and text-based chat, students can get help with anything from finishing their homework to preparing for an exam. There is no audio or video to preserve student safety and comfort.


We are completely student driven and all our tutoring services are completely virtual allowing us to come into contact with as many students as possible.


Wave Learning Festival provides a variety of free educational resources. Our tutoring program features tutors from across the world hosting hour-long peer-to-peer tutoring sessions over Zoom throughout the week. We offer school partnerships of all kinds--schools are able to request the services and subjects they need most, including tutoring sessions dedicated to their students and special classes from our tutors.
