Leiah Groom-Thomas is a Research Project Manager at the Annenberg Institute at Brown University. Her interests include facilitating children’s early literacy and development by conducting scalable, applicable research that bridges research, practice, and policy. Much of her work utilizes mixed methodologies to identify ways to improve child outcomes and implement evidence-based practices during preschool and elementary years for later success. Leiah supports various projects across the Institute that involve early learning.
Leiah holds a B.S. in Early Childhood Education, a M.A. in Reading and Literacy in Early and Middle Childhood, and is in the final stages of receiving a Ph.D. in Education from The Ohio State University. Her background as a practitioner informs her work and scholarly interests. Prior to Annenberg, Leiah was a Graduate Research Associate at the Crane Center for Early Childhood Research and Policy at Ohio State.
